SIGHTSEEING

Charlottenburg Palace is one of Berlin’s landmarks and can be visited as a museum. The castle is regarded as the most beautiful and largest preserved Hohenzollern residence in the capital and looks back on a long history.
The apartment of Frederick the Great, the golden gallery with numerous paintings and the mausoleum of Queen Luise are well known.

Today visitors can enjoy a harmonious combination of architecture from various eras. The following generations had the castle extended and redesigned according to their own taste.

The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church was completed in 1895 and stands on Breitscheidplatz between Kurfürstendamm and Budapester Straße. The church is a museum and a war memorial for peace. Like many other buildings, the church was destroyed and rebuilt during the war. It shows a contrast between modernity and history and regularly attracts many visitors.

SHOPPING

Charlottenburg is one of the best places in Berlin for extensive shopping tours. If you live here, all shopping facilities are right on your doorstep.

If you are travelling at the zoo, the Bikini Berlin building will immediately catch your eye. In this exclusive mall there are special shops on three floors for furniture, fashion, technology and lots more. The 7000 square metre roof terrace also offers a unique view of the Berlin Zoo and its animals.

Kurfürstendamm, or Ku’damm for short, is the showpiece for shopping and offers exclusive department stores and fashion shops. On 3.5 kilometres visitors will find everything from fashion chains to unusual boutiques, for every budget and taste.

The first address of the city is without doubt KADEWE, the ‚Kaufhaus des Westens‘. This large department store features fashion, cosmetics, home decoration and a giant department of fine foods.

CULTURE

If you live in Charlottenburg, a wide range of cultural activities are not far away.

The Deutsche Oper Berlin is a must for every visitor. It includes the three largest opera houses in Berlin, is a home to the Berlin State Ballet and the choir of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

The Bröhan Museum of Art with its focus on Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Functionalism is always worth a visit. Since its opening in 2004, the Museum of Photography has been a crowd-puller for photography enthusiasts.

Living in Charlottenburg also means a variety of restaurants, cafés and bars from a quick breakfast or business lunch to a atmospheric candlelight dinner.

Are you a fan of Vietnamese cuisine? Then you will find specialities and delicacies from the different regions of Vietnam at Saigon Green on Savignyplatz.

In the famous and legendary Paris Bar on Kantstraße in Charlottenburg you can enjoy French cuisine and meet one or two celebrities.

PARKS

Like all of Berlin, Charlottenburg captivates with its multitude of green spaces and parks.

The Charlottenburg Palace Park is Berlin’s oldest preserved park and belongs to Charlottenburg Palace. Large sunbathing lawns, numerous ponds and playgrounds invite you to linger.

Volkspark Jungfernheide is the second largest park in the capital. The 38 meter high water tower is a highlight of the park. Marvel at some century old oaks and beeches.

The Lietzenseepark is also a great leisure tip and impresses visitors with old trees and many meadows. The park’s central location not far from the Berlin Exhibition grounds is a special feature.
