Sch\u00f6neberg is a densely built-up inner-city district and neighbours Tiergarten and Kreuzberg as well as Charlottenburg and Wilmersdorf. The Potsdamer Stra\u00dfe, the Hauptstra\u00dfe and the Akazienkiez can be found here with galleries, turkish restaurants and families strolling through the extensive Sch\u00f6neberger S\u00fcdgel\u00e4nde. World famous is the huge department store of the West, the KADEWE, which attracts demanding shoppers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The area around Nolllendorfplatz is also known as the Gay Village, from Fuggerstra\u00dfe and Motzstra\u00dfe to Maa\u00dfenstra\u00dfe there are many attractions for the gay and lesbian community. In the colourful caf\u00e9s, fancy restaurants, boutiques and clubs gays, lesbians and curious visitors from all over the world meet. The annual „Stadtfest<\/a>“ around Nollendorfplatz is a highlight for all residents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n As a resident of Berlin Sch\u00f6neberg there is much to see. The famous and historic Wittenbergplatz <\/a>connects Sch\u00f6neberg with Kreuzberg and was built in 1889. Here the Kleiststrasse becomes the Tauentzienstrasse and merges into the Kurf\u00fcrstendamm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Rathaus Sch\u00f6neberg was the seat of the governing mayor until 1991 and was built in 1914. Kennedy said the famous words „Ich bin ein Berliner“ and the Rathaus is a well-known symbol of Berlin’s desire for freedom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Gasometer <\/a>in Sch\u00f6neberg, which is one of Berlin’s most impressive vantage points, is a viewpoint. 80 meters above the ground there is a great view over Sch\u00f6neberg and the neighboring districts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Kurf\u00fcrstendamm, or Ku’damm for short, is the figurehead for shopping and offers exclusive department stores such as the world-famous KADEWE <\/a>and many fashion stores. On 3.5 kilometres visitors will find everything from fashion chains to unusual boutiques, for every budget and taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Those who like it one size smaller will find a cosy neighbourhood with old-established shops and individual boutiques in Akazienstra\u00dfe <\/a>between Grunewaldstra\u00dfe and Hauptstra\u00dfe. If you are looking for souvenirs or want to afford something special as a resident of Sch\u00f6neberg, you are well advised to visit the wine shops, delicatessens or furniture stores here. There are also many other shops here that the visitor can discover a little off the beaten track. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Those who live in Sch\u00f6neberg can continue their scientific education in the Urania<\/a>. Here you will find current research results and a dialogue between science and the public. Those interested in medicine, history, politics and other topics should take a look at the current programme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Urban Nation Museum<\/a> is a freer and more artistic place. An innovative museum was built in a converted Wilhelminian style building in B\u00fclowstra\u00dfe, where the surfaces of the building and the unusual architecture are the actual works of art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For many generations, the recipes for Greek classics have been handed down in the Taverna Ousia<\/a> on Bayerischer Platz. If you love Bifteki and Souvlaki, you will also find many small so-called mezedes, tasty culinary delights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fancy Chinese cuisine in Sch\u00f6neberg? The restaurant Da Jia Le<\/a> has Mongolian, Russian, Japanese and Korean influences and with the very varied menu there is something for every taste. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Authentic Italy can be found in the Osteria Ribaltone<\/a>, a small but fine restaurant on Viktoria-Luise-Platz. Always well attended, a traditional cuisine awaits the visitor in the family restaurant.
